GRASSROOTS HUB BOOST BONO ECONOMY WITH MOBILE APP DEVELOPMENT
The GrassRoots Hub, in partnership with the Ghana Tech Lab, through the kind support of Master Card Foundation, World Bank, and the Ministry of Communication and Digitization Ghana, on 23rd September 2021, organized a Stakeholder Meeting, as part of the Pathways to Sustainable Employment (PaSE Programme), at Dr. Aaron Ofei Hall, Adjacent the regional hospital, Sunyani. The discussion centered on the theme: ‘The Role of Mobile App Development, in Transforming the Local Economy for Job Creation and Economic Development.
In line with the primary objective of the meeting, the GrassRoots Hub gathered consensus on the role of Mobile App development technology in the local digital economy and how it would propel youth employment in the Bono region, for that matter, Sunyani.
During the well-attended meeting, participants from the six pillars including, Human capital, Support, Accessible market, Policy, Government, and Regulatory bodies, were put into a focus group discussion. Ensuring the session was collaborative and consultative enough in discussing issues relevant for the Bono digital ecosystem.
According to the GrassRoots Hub, ‘’It will help achieve sustainable development through digital skills and entrepreneurship, which forms the greater part of the organization’s mission and vision’’.
‘’We are grateful to all our stakeholders who attended to our call, particularly within the short notice. Their participation forcefully re-echoes the need for this important engagement. More importantly, their backgrounds contributed greatly to the engagement; it offered a diversity of ideas’’. – Robert Kwasi Oppong, communication officer for GrassRoots Hub, made this known whiles addressing the press at the end of the meeting.
Whiles speaking at the event, the Vice President of GADef International, the mother Body of GrassRoots Hub, Mr Jake Yakubu Adams, underscore the potentials of the mobile App industry within the Bono region. According to him, ” whatever recommendations that will come out of this meeting will be one that will make the sector very competitive across the sub-region’’. He further lamented the increasing number of unemployed across the country and charged participants to increase their efforts in rooting out the canker. He believes the surest way to do so is through mobile App development.
On his part, Mr. Abagna, CEO of CODE SMART WEBSOF, elegized the GrassRoots Hub for its role in equipping the youth of Sunyani and its environs with technological skills that are needed for the 4th industrial revolution.
While adding his voice, Mr. James Boateng, a renowned, Media personality and host of morning shows on Greena FM in Sunyani commended GrassRoots Hub and its partners for such an opportunity.
Representatives from the various sectors pledged their commitment to ensuring all the challenges that confront the sector is addressed to put the Bono region at its deserving status in terms of Mobile App development.
