GHANA’S SHERIF GHALI MAKES IMPACT AT COMMONWEALTH YOUTH FORUM
At the just-ended Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF) held in Kigali, Rwanda, one of Ghana’s most refined business executive and youth entrepreneurship activists successfully facilitated a session of the Forum.
The Session was part of the core program outline of the Commonwealth Youth Forum that seeks to guide the delegates to develop projects/proposals to address gaps identified in the Commonwealth Youth Declaration.
Sherif Ghali, currently the chairperson for the Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs – Africa (CAYE Africa) and CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs, was one of the change-makers picked to facilitate the Technology and Innovation Session during the Forum. A post on his social media indicated that he delivered very well with the help of other co-facilitators.
About the Commonwealth Youth Forum
The Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF) and (CYC) General Assembly (GA) are held biennially under the wings of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). CHOGM is one of the mechanisms used by Commonwealth leaders under the auspices of the Commonwealth to deliberate and act on commitments, upcoming issues, and policy framing on social, economic, and political aspects that affect Commonwealth countries.
CHOGM meetings are organized under various themes that highlight areas of concern as agreed upon by Heads of Government to consider critical problems of the Commonwealth. The CHOGM Rwanda was held under the theme “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming.”
The CHOGM meeting had five critical meetings, including the CHOGM Meeting, the People’s Forum, the Youth Forum, the Women’s Forum, and the Business Forum, each with a specific date to run concurrently.
The CYF 2022, held under the theme of “Taking Charge of Our Future’, brings together youth leaders from across the Commonwealth to exchange ideas and cultures, build skills and networks, and identify the most vital challenges and opportunities facing young people today. It provides an opportunity for young people to influence decision-makers and agree on actions that they, as a group, can take forward to achieve their ambitions for the Commonwealth.
The CYF, held from 19 – 21 June 2022, was convened by the Commonwealth Secretariat, the Government of Rwanda (Host country), and the Commonwealth Youth Council. A Youth-led Taskforce was designated by the Commonwealth Secretariat, the CYC, and the Host Government (Rwanda) to assist in the planning and execution of the CYF.
