Agrico Hub in partnership with Plan International Ghana – Women Voice and Leadership (WVL) introduces the “Accelerating Women Enterprises for Local Economic Development (AWELED)” program. The AWELED program is a six-month program designed to provide bespoke digital, entrepreneurship, and vocational skills training to unemployed women and women-led enterprises to enhance their business operations as well as Digital advocacy training for media personnel.

Beneficiaries of the training will receive training in the use of basic digital tools to promote their business. Some will also be given practical vocational skills training such as Detergent production and Pastries making as a means of helping unemployed women with Income Generating Activities (IGA). Successful trainees will receive startup materials to commence their new IGA.

Other activities in the Agrico Hub AWELED program will include Digital marketing and Product branding and packaging training for women in the maize and cassava value chain as well as Agro Processors in selected communities in the Techiman Municipality.

Again, in an effort to enhance active stakeholder participation in the implementation of the AWELED program, the activities will be preceded by stakeholder engagement among some key stakeholders to seek their opinions on the best ways of promoting women’s entrepreneurship. The Program will also create an avenue for women-led businesses to interact with financial institutions in micro-business financing options.
The AWELED program will also offer two-day Digital Skills Advocacy training for 25 media personnel from both print and electronic media stations with the necessary skills to support the promotion of Digitalization among women-led businesses in the Bono East region. Through the Digital Skills Advocacy program, media personnel will acquire specialized skills in photography, videography, digital content creation, and cybercrime prevention as tools for digital advocacy.

Agrico Hub believes that journalists have a powerful influence on society and can play a critical role in promoting digital transformation, especially women who are hugely marginalized.

The Agrico Hub AWELED program is implemented in the Bono East region with support from Plan International Ghana – Women Voice and Leadership (WVL). In all, about 100 women and journalists will benefit from the program.
