Empowering Changemakers: Barcamp Ho 2023 Nurturing Youth Innovators, Entrepreneurs, and Thought Leaders in Ghana
GhanaThink’s Barcamp Ghana program continues to build a network of young changemakers, doers and entrepreneurs in Ghana and beyond. This is happening through Barcamps in Ghana. Barcamp Ho is organized primarily by the GhanaThink Foundation as part of the Barcamp Ghana program. Barcamp Ho 2023 is a free networking forum bringing people together for a day of learning, sharing, networking and mentoring. The event is on Saturday, 21st October 2023 at Prof Kofi Anyidoho Auditorium, UHAS-Trafalgar in Ho. The theme is “Finance, Quality, Innovation“.
BarCamp Ho 2023 will be the 10th BarCamp in Ho and it will showcase entrepreneurs and innovators in the Volta region. Participants can register to participate via http://barcampho23.eventbrite.com/
There have been over 120 Barcamps organized in Ghana as of October 2023. Through editions of Barcamp Ho, movies have been produced, businesses have been started, businesses have employed competent youth, many volunteering opportunities have spurred career growth as well as many fruitful friendships. Using new champions of development in the Volta Region, with a new culture of doing and creating change, the Barcamp would focus on new attractions to drive the Volta Region forward.
Makafui Tsey has been a participant of Barcamp Ho, before Covid caused a break in 2020. She is currently the #Bcho Resources Lead and she has these expectations about the upcoming Barcamp. “I’m excited to meet and connect with professionals who are passionate about finance, quality, and innovation, with the possibility of making valuable connections and collaborations.” She also shared the impact of Barcamp Ho: “Being a part of Barcamp Ho over the years has been an incredible journey. Courage Tetteh has been the longtime lead for Barcamp Ho, transitioning on from the role in 2022. He runs TBSS GH, one of the #bcho partners. He stated: “Working with Barcamp Ho has been an incredible journey of personal and professional growth for me. What is most intriguing is that, despite being purely voluntary, it demands the commitment and dedication of a paying job. This unique aspect propels you beyond your limits, equipping you for future project leadership and transforming you into a more capable individual. It introduced me to virtual working and collaboration tools and unveiled the remarkable potential of social media for making a meaningful impact”. As he guides the organizing team and plays a different role with this Barcamp, he added: “As we approach Barcamp Ho 2023, my hope and expectation are that every participant arrives with an open mind and a readiness to be challenged. It is an opportunity to break free from current boundaries and to craft something extraordinary from the experience.“
