ACTIVATE Learning Forum 2026: Driving Change Through Agricultural TVET

Today, 11 September 2026, stakeholders, young people, training institutions, industry players, policymakers, innovators and development partners are coming together for the ACTIVATE Learning Forum 2026.
The forum focuses on one key question: How can skills and innovation create better opportunities for young people in agriculture?
The ACTIVATE Project, which stands for Accelerating Change Through Innovation in Agricultural TVET, is helping to answer that question. The project supports young people with practical skills for jobs, business and growth in agriculture.
What Is the ACTIVATE Learning Forum?
The ACTIVATE Learning Forum is a platform for learning, sharing and collaboration.
It brings together people from across the Agricultural Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ATVET) sector. They include young people, training institutions, businesses, government agencies, innovators and development partners.
Together, they can share lessons from the project. They can also discuss what needs to change to create more jobs and business opportunities for young people.
Why Agricultural TVET Matters
Agriculture is changing fast. Today, young people can build careers in many areas of the agricultural sector.
These areas include:
- Agribusiness
- Food processing
- Modern farming
- Agricultural technology
- Climate-smart agriculture
- Digital agriculture
- Agricultural services
- Value chain businesses
Therefore, agriculture is no longer only about traditional farming. Skills, technology and innovation are creating new opportunities across the sector.
Through ACTIVATE, young people are gaining skills that can help them enter the workplace or start their own businesses.
ACTIVATE Project Impact
The ACTIVATE Project has already reached thousands of young people across Ghana.
So far:
- 58,942 young people have been reached through training and outreach.
- 34,824 young people have transitioned into employment.
- 515 scholarships have been provided.
- 81% of beneficiaries are young women.
- 335 instructors have received training in inclusive and gender-responsive teaching.
- 11 ATVET institutions are undergoing retooling.
These figures show the growing impact of skills development in agriculture.
More importantly, they represent young people who are gaining knowledge, building careers and exploring new business opportunities.
Supporting Young Women in Agriculture
Women are an important part of Ghana’s agricultural future.
For this reason, ACTIVATE places a strong focus on women and other underserved groups. The project aims to create more opportunities for young women to access training, jobs and agribusiness support.
So far, 81% of ACTIVATE beneficiaries are young women. This shows the importance of creating training programmes that are open and accessible to more young people.
Skills, Jobs and Agribusiness
Training is only one part of the journey.
Young people also need access to work experience, business support and links to employers. As a result, ACTIVATE is working to strengthen the connection between training and employment.
The project supports areas such as:
- Workplace Experience Learning
- Agripreneurship Support Centres
- Career guidance
- Job placement
- Business incubation
- Transition grants
- Entrepreneurship support
These activities can help young people move from learning to earning.
What Comes Next?
The work will continue beyond the ACTIVATE Learning Forum 2026.
Between 2026 and 2028, ACTIVATE will continue to expand skills training and employment pathways. The project will also support more ATVET institutions and strengthen links between training providers and industry.
In addition, the project will continue promoting climate-smart agriculture, digital learning and entrepreneurship.
The goal is simple: to help more young people gain the skills they need to succeed in agriculture and agribusiness.

As the ACTIVATE Learning Forum 2026 takes place today, we will share key moments from the event.
We will also highlight important discussions, inspiring stories, new ideas and lessons from participants and speakers.
Most importantly, the conversation will show how Agricultural TVET can help create jobs, build businesses and shape a stronger future for young people in Ghana.
