Grassroots Hub, through the support of its partners, has once again advanced an incubation program as part of the Pathway to Sustainable Employment Program –PASE with the hope to instill entrepreneurship among Bono youth.

The Hub, in partnership with Ghana Tech Lab, through the kind support of Master Card Foundation, World Bank, and the Ministry Of Communication and Digitization Ghana, rolled out a six-week intensive mobile app development training under the Pathway to Sustainable Employment towards the end of the year 2021.

The program has successfully trained 30 unemployed youth in mobile app development using flutter. As part of the Pathways to Sustainable  Employment Program, the 30 trainees trained have been put in six groups and tasked to work on business ideas for the onwards transition into the incubation phase to see these ideas get groomed and nurtured to become viable business entities.

The incubation phase started at the beginning of the year 2022 and will run through to March 2022, at the premises of GrassRoots Hub in Sunyani, comprising various key stages, including; an innovation week, empathy trip, entrepreneurial hustle, and design thinking. Meaning before trainees could successfully complete the incubation phase, they should’ve as well gone through these stages of the program.

Under the empathy trip, trainees (startups) went out first to engage with their target users to better appreciate and incorporate their inputs as they work on their products.

In addition, they embarked on entrepreneurial hustle, which required trainees to market selected products to random buyers; the entrepreneurial hustle was to ensure the trainee’s readiness for the entrepreneurial journey. The coming days will see the trainees (startups) focusing on design thinking.

Speaking to the media,  Ms. Christabel Andoh, Business and Development lead, GrassRoots Hub, lauded their partners for the support, particularly for coming up with such an innovative program that targets the youth.

The startups currently undergoing incubation are expected to leverage mobile applications to enhance their business modules to solve societal problems and also maximise revenue.

Kindly follow GrassRoots Hub’s social media handles for updates as the incubation program progresses.

Thanks to our media partners Baobab Entrepreneur for the support!
