Africa has for too long neglected the ingenuity of the womenfolk and thus missed the great contribution of women to sustainable development. Neglecting the empowerment of women it’s like trying to walk with one leg which is difficult to do.
To educate and empower this move, Invest Campaign moved to SUAME SALVATION ARMY and JHS to educate and enlighten students to further into (TVET)courses like Technical, Vocational Education and training in the future.
The project founded by the World University Service of Canada(WUSC) and implemented by Abuntu for Development and Kumasi Hive aims to advocate for women’s inclusion in the Technical and Vocational sectors.
Training students in (TVET) courses provides students with the opportunity to actively engage with classmates, professors and get first-hand experience of working in groups. This increases productivity and empowers women to become self-reliant and stimulates entrepreneurship.
Background
The Innovation in Non-Traditional Vocational Education and Skills Training (INVEST) project is a 5-year initiative, funded by the Government of Canada, that will build sustainable pathways to enhanced economic empowerment, well-being, and inclusive growth for young urban women in Accra, Kumasi, and Sekondi-Takoradi, Ghana.
Working in high-growth sectors, the initiative will test and scale innovative, sustainable models to improve the enabling environment, reduce gender-specific barriers to women’s economic participation, and enhance access to decent work for marginalized women in non-traditional sectors.
The Project Director oversees the strategic and operational implementation of the INVEST project in Ghana.
