Soronko Academy Trains 142 Participants in Women in Digital Skills Program
Soronko Academy, a Ghanaian technology and coding institution, has successfully trained 142 participants in the Women in Digital Skills Program (Cohort 17.0). The training culminated in a graduation ceremony on March 24th, 2023, which saw 117 participants complete the training online, while 25 participated in person.
The Women in Digital Skills Program is an initiative by Soronko Academy aimed at equipping women with digital skills and entrepreneurship training to create and manage their businesses effectively. The program has been running for several years, and each cohort sees participants develop business ideas and create websites and social media accounts for their businesses.
At the graduation ceremony, the Project Officer, Delphina Duodu, delivered a welcome note, after which the trainer, Mr. Kwame Oteng, introduced the various projects that the participants had been working on. Each participant was tasked with creating a business idea and developing a digital marketing strategy to attract customers and grow their businesses. The ladies used social media tools and content creation tools such as chatGPT, veed.io, and lovo.ai to create captivating content for their social media campaigns.
The participants were also introduced to Fruitask, a social media tool that helps businesses keep their customers engaged and monitor their KPIs by tracking the number of customers gained, customer referrals, and customer satisfaction. They drafted report analyses to understand their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to improving their businesses.
The ladies took turns presenting their business ideas, and the trainer shared his feedback and recommendations on their projects. Mr. Kwame presented certificates to the participants and congratulated them on their hard work. Ms. Delphina encouraged the graduates to join the Soronko Alumni Network for diverse opportunities, including CV reviews and interview skills training.
The online Women in Digital Skills Cohort 17 class had six group presentations for Group A and five group presentations for Group B. The groups built websites using WordPress for a Travel and Tour agency, an NGO, a Nursery school, a Cosmetic brand, and a Digital Marketing agency. The trainer, Mr Kobina Twum, provided constructive feedback on their designs.
In conclusion, Soronko Academy’s Women in Digital Skills Program has continued to impact and equip women with digital skills and entrepreneurship training to create and manage their businesses effectively. Congratulations to the 142 participants in Cohort 17.0, and we wish them the best in their future endeavors.
