MCE and MP of Techiman South Donate “Start-up Kits to Agrico Hub Trainees”
The MCE of Techiman Municipal, Hon Benjamin Yaw Gyarko together with Hon Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, MP Techiman South donated “Start-up Kits” to Apprentices who participated in the 3weeks Digital and Startup Skills training organized by Agrico Hub in Techiman.
The items was presented to Agrico Hub to be shared with the trainees to use it to start their own businesses. The items comprised of hair dryers and sowing equipment for hair dresses and fashion designers who participated in the Agrico Hub training in Techiman.
The CEO of Agrico Hub, George Antwi-Boasiako who received the items on behalf of the Hub expressed his appreciation for the gesture of the Techiman MCE and MP. He added that the donation signifiies the commitment of the Techiman MCE and MP towards Youth employment creation. To him this is a very inspiring move by the political leadership of Techiman and therefore promised that the hub will continue to offer youth entrepreneurship programs to build the capacity of the Youth in Techiman to be able to create jobs for themselves.
Mr Benson Adjei, Technical Advisor, GIZ Digital Transformation Center (GIZ DTC) acknowledged the strong local stakeholder collaboration from the Techiman Municipal Assembly that has made the Agrico Hub DELED program a unique one. He posited that his outfit, GIZ is happy to witness the support Agrico Hub has received from the MCE and MP of Techiman. This is a very special event for his outfit. He added that Agrico Hub has done so well for being able to lobby for Start-up Kits to support trainees after taking them through 3weeks of Digital and Startup Skills training. This he said is a gesture that can inspire stakeholder participation in the Hub’s subsequent programs.
In his remarks the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Techiman Municipal Assembly affirmed the commitment of the Government to support Youth entrepreneurship. He asserted that he is glad to donate the Start-up Kits to the Trainees to enable them to be able to start their own businesses after their apprenticeship programs.
Hon Yaw Gyarko added that together with the Member of Parliament for Techiman South will continue to support Agrico Hub to build the capacity of young entrepreneurs to propel youth employment creation. He ended by saying that the Government in fulfilment of the “You-Start program” will equip young people with traning, financial and material support to help the youth to be able to launch their own businesses.
Mr. Osman, CEO of Asomah Leather works and the Regional PRO of Association of Small Scale Industries (ASSI) expressed the appreciation of ASSI to the MCE and MP of Techiman South for the Start-up Kits donated to the Trainees. He also thanked Agrico Hub and GIZ for building the capacity of the Apprentices with relevant digital and Startup Skills to them to be able to launch sustainable businesses after their apprenticeships program. He further called on the MCE and MP of Techiman to continue to provide such Startup Kits to Apprentices after their apprenticeships programs.
The event climaxed the Techiman edition of the Digital and Startup Skills training which was the last part of the DELED program which was specifically designed to offer Digital and Startup Skills to youth in Apprenticeship prpgrams. In all about 85 youth Apprentices in Nkoranza, Atebubu and Techiman have benefited from the GIZ sponsored program in the Bono East region.
