Barcamp Sunyani 2026 Set to Impact Youth in the Bono Region Environment & Beyond
SUNYANI, Ghana β July 16, 2026 β The GhanaThink Foundation hosts the 2026 edition of Barcamp Sunyani on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Sunyani Technical University Auditorium from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Guided by the theme βEnvironment | Finance | Impact,β this free networking forum serves as a primary hub for students, professionals, and change-makers to build skills, exchange ideas, and foster community-led regional development.
This year’s event highlights a major evolution in the local organizing team’s leadership capacity, driven entirely by experienced young professionals who have risen through the volunteer ranks. Nasaara Elijah Ayeebo, stepping into the role of Barcamp Sunyani 2026 Coordinator & Team Lead, described his path from managing operations to guiding the entire event’s direction as deeply transformative:
“My journey with Barcamp Sunyani has been one of growth, leadership, service, and transformation. This year, stepping into the role of Acting Team Lead has been both an honour and a significant responsibility. The position has pushed me to grow from managing operations to providing strategic direction, coordinating teams, making key decisions, and ensuring that every aspect of the event aligns with our vision and objectives. It has transformed me from a volunteer contributing behind the scenes into a leader capable of inspiring teams and driving impact.”

The Various Barcamp Sessions
In line with the theme’s focus on quality and innovation, Barcamp Sunyani 2026 continues the #KonnectKouch session tradition at Barcamps in Ghana. This features interactive, deep-dive live interviews with two prominent local personalitiesβone male and one femaleβunpacking their personal journeys, business breakthroughs, and community impact to give participants relatable, actionable blueprints for success.
Central to the Barcamp experience are its signature Speed Mentoring and user-driven Breakout Sessions. The breakout sessions offer open, interactive spaces where participants transition from passive listeners to active contributors. Participants break into smaller, focused groups to deliberate on pressing issues, share innovative solutions, and brainstorm ideas around various topics based on the partners. Complementing these discussions, the Speed Mentoring sessions pair attendees directly with seasoned industry professionals and corporate leaders for rapid, intentional guidance. These follow Speed Networking sessions which get people warmed up wonderfully!
Handling the intricate operational planning behind this scale of programming is the local logistics department. Isaac Allan-Tetteh, the Barcamp Sunyani 2026 Logistics Lead, highlighted how his foundational training as a volunteer during the 2025 edition prepared him for this critical task. He noted that his engagement with the core team and the regular Sunyani Konnect Meetups provided a crucial space for continuous personal development:
“As a volunteer for Barcamp Sunyani 2025, I had the opportunity to contribute to the planning and successful execution of the event. Collaborating with an exceptional team strengthened my skills in teamwork, communication, adaptability, and problem-solving. My journey with Barcamp Sunyani 2025 and the Sunyani Konnect Meetups has been both rewarding and transformative, reinforcing my belief that leadership begins with service.”
Strengthening the Local Ecosystem through Partnerships
A robust network of local and national entities powers the event’s ongoing regional impact. This year, Barcamp Sunyani 2026 proudly recognizes the vital commitment of its steadfast repeat partners, including Greenleaf Eatery, STU SRC, Sannak Hotel, Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), Baobab Entrepreneur, Pleasant Cakes & Pastries, DAT Photo Studio, and AB-3 Media, all of whom continue their valuable historical relationship with the Barcamp. The organizing team is also excited to expand its reach by onboarding dynamic new partners for this edition, welcoming EventIsLive, Masada, Barnhart Specialist Hospital, Essence Kitchen, and Elton to the collaborative network.
Ensuring the forum’s long-term sustainability is a broader ecosystem designed to keep participants engaged long after the main event closes. Owura Charles (Charles O. Owurani), the Barcamp Sunyani 2026 Marketing Lead, led some team members to AB-3 Media for an interview before the Barcamp. He reflects on a decade-long journey that began at Barcamp Koforidua in 2016. He emphasized that the true value of GhanaThinkβs model lies in its continuous mentoring and networking opportunities:
“If there’s one thing Barcamp has done for me, it’s helping me build an incredible network. Through Barcamp, I have connected with professionals, entrepreneurs, innovators, mentors, and changemakers from different backgrounds. I have had the privilege of receiving guidance from experienced professionals, not only during the events but even long afterward. Their advice has influenced my career decisions, leadership journey, and personal development.”
As a public health practitioner, Charles added that the communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills gained from conducting community health education and radio programs heavily draw on the confidence built within the Barcamp community. In an interview with Baobab Entrepreneur before the Barcamp, he stated: βI also look forward to the monthly Konnect Meetups, where we discuss topics that promote leadership, innovation, personal development, and sustainable community growth. Those conversations continually challenge me to think differently, grow intentionally, and become a better version of myselfβ.
