Agrico Hub is set to provide digital skills to over 50 Apprentices and Small Business owners in Techiman
As part of their Digital Transformation program dubbed “Digitalization and Entrepreneurship for Local Economic Development Program (DELED), over 50 people comprising Youth apprentices and Small Business owners in Techiman will receive Digital and Startup Skills and Ecommerce training for MSMEs respectively. So far over 170 youth Apprentices and small business owners have received digital and Startup Skills and Ecommerce training for MSMEs in Nkoranza and Atebubu.
The DELED program which is supported by GIZ Digital Transformation Center (GIZ DTC) is a special program designed to promote Digitalization in the Bono East region. This transformational program has made it possible for women in informal trade in rural communities to use social media to promote their products whiles MSMEs are able to open their vendor accounts on popular eCommerce platforms such as Jumia to sell their products.
The Techiman edition of the DELED program will equip apprentices with digital and Startup Skills that will enable them to launch sustainable businesses after their apprenticeships. The training promises to train Small Business owners in Techiman to adopt and use eCommerce platforms to expand their market.
The DELED project was designed to build the capacity of women in informal trade, youth undergoing Apprenticeship, and owners of MSMEs to digitalize their businesses to maximize their market potential. Beneficiaries have been receiving basic entrepreneurial and digital skills to boost their market potential to yield significant economic benefits for themselves and their communities.
According to Mr. George Antwi-Boasiako, CEO of Agrico Hub, the DELED concept is a pilot program that will soon be extended to other communities in the Bono East region. The program has enjoyed active local collaboration from GEA BAC, GCED, ASSI, MMDAs, the BE RCC, and the GIZ DTC office in Techiman. At the end of the Program over 200 people from four (4) Districts in the Bono East Region will receive relevant skills to digitize their enterprises with 60% women and 5% participation from persons with disability.
