Agrico Hub holds the 3rd Edition of Techiman Startup Summit
Agrico Hub and Ghana Tech Lab collaborated to hold the 3rd Techiman Startup Summit, with the focus on “Digitalizing Agriculture for Sustainable Business Development and Job Creation in Techiman”. The summit gave the businesses created throughout the six (6) weeks of Web App Development training the chance to present their company concepts to a group of investors, business executives, industry experts, government representatives, and members of the general public. The use of digital technology to benefit the agriculture sector was the focus of this year’s digital skills training program.
In light of the fact that the Bono East Region serves as Ghana’s primary source of food, the Municipal Chief Executive of Techiman Municipal Assembly took the opportunity to emphasize the significance and necessity of digitizing the agricultural sector.
George Antwi-Boasiako, the CEO of Agrico Hub, extended a warm welcome to all attendees and stated that his organization is dedicated to assisting businesses and will keep providing entrepreneurship programs to help the youth in Techiman develop the skills necessary to go out and start their own businesses. In order to support the value chain for agribusiness, he also spoke on the importance of digitalizing agriculture.
The keynote speaker, Mr. Benson Adjei, Technical Advisor, GIZ Digital Transformation Center (GIZ DTC), recognized the role Agrico Hub has played in the Bono East Region’s digital transformation. All of the participants were urged by him to embrace the digital transition taking place in the area.
With the assistance of the member of parliament for Techiman South, Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko continued by saying that they would keep working with Agrico Hub to help young entrepreneurs develop their skills and help create jobs for young people. As part of the “You-Start initiative,” he concluded, the government will provide young people with training as well as financial and material support to enable them to start their own businesses.
Mr. Christopher Nafo, Technical Advisor for the GIZ Migration Employment Program (GIZ MEP), spoke extensively about the necessity of long-term employment creation in the Region in order to lower irregular migration.
The CEO of Agrico Hub in his closing remarks stated that the winners stand a chance to receive access to working space, internet service, business development support, mentorship through Agrico Hub Mentorship Network, and media and branding support. They will also have access to a broader market offered by Agrico Hub and GTL partners through referrals. In all Twelve (12) startup teams, presented their business concepts to a panel of judges for comments and critique.
